May 7--CULVER -- Along the east side of the old Culver Highway, a grassy field is sprinkled with purple and yellow spring flowers. Across the street, the small town's main commercial area consists of a cluster of businesses -- a gas station, antique shop, bar, convenience store and a couple restaurants.
In the next three years, Culver officials hope to beautify this quaint area, part of an effort to attract more businesses and commerce.
"We're the only town that only has businesses on one side of the street," Culver Mayor Dan Harnden said last week, laughing.
