May 9--Sanderson Farms is about to lay an egg in Waco, and that's a good thing.
The chicken company nearly has finished an $80 million project that includes a hatchery and processing plant that together will employ about 1,400 people.
"We will begin putting eggs in the hatchery on May 22 and ramp it up from there," says Bob "Pic" Billingsley, director of development and engineering for the fourth-largest chicken company in America.
Training at the plant where chickens will be slaughtered and processed begins in early June, with work beginning the first Monday in August.
