With the introduction of Home Information Packs just a month away, estate agents find themselves in the spotlight as never before.
Last year, a report commissioned by the Financial Services Authority highlighted that mortgage advisers tied to estate agents are most likely to benefit from HIPs so it will be no surprise to see more alliances formed like the one announced recently between The Mortgage Times Group and Century 21.
It is possible that the influence of estate agents in the advisory market will grow so the debate around regulation will continue, with many questioning whether the present regulations are robust.
