Local real estate developer Emaar Properties is applying extra reinforcement to floor slabs on the Burj Dubai tower, but has denied the slabs are defective.
"There are no strength issues involved with the concrete slabs that have been constructed," a spokesman for Emaar told MEED on 29 March.
"During the course of design refinement and construction co-ordination, it was decided to further increase the stiffness of the slabs in order to reinforce the long-term performance of the tower. Measures are in place to ensure there will be no delays in the completion of Burj Dubai."
