Introduction
The big, famous ski areas in northern Utah, including Park City and Alta, are known throughout the world for the quality of their product. Their presence in the pantheon of ski nirvanas overshadows southern Utah; hardly anyone thinks about this area for skiing, which is great for those who want to get away from crowds. The cross-country skiing and snowmobiling options in southern Utah are extensive, and the large downhill complex at Brian Head is considered by many to be on a par with its better known northerly neighbors, but without the big crowds.
