May 10--From time to time during my three decades as a wordsmith, I have been accused of being afflicted with a disturbing preoccupation with death.
I plead "no contest," reminding my accusers, "Of life's two central milestones, fate gives us the opportunity to ponder only the latter."
So, I was happier than a sow wallowing in practical fertilizer when members of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association arrived at the Greater Columbus Convention Center yesterday to begin their annual gathering.
