NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 1995--AT&T announced today it is the largest U.S.-based stakeholder in the ANTILLAS 1 Cable System -- the newest undersea cable link serving the Caribbean basin. ANTILLAS 1 spans 156 kilometers to link the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
Slated for completion in August 1996, the system bolsters capacity initially provided by the Trans-Caribbean Cable System, which was installed in 1989. This system spanned over 4,500 kilometers to link the United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Columbia.
