May 14--Dr. Thomas Loepfe is delighted with the record turnout -- 80 -- for Franciscan Skemp Healthcare's third annual successful aging challenge, "Celebrating You," launched Monday, May 7, for people 55 years of age and older.
Loepfe, who heads FSHC's department of geriatrics, inspired the successful aging program a few years ago "because I saw a need to help people prevent their own frailty. Many times we see patients who are not doing so. It's important to get people involved in their own well-being by educating them about proper eating and the importance of exercise."
