PRAGUE. MAY 15. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - The computer software piracy rate in the Czech Republic declined 1 percentage point last year to 39%, according to a co-study by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) and IDC, with losses to software producers at USD 147 mln (CZK 2.5 bln), up from USD 121 mln in 2005.

"[The relatively high rate of illegal software use] in households is caused especially by easily accessible high-speed Internet, which has become the main distribution channel for illegal software," BSA spokesperson Jan Hlavac said.
