May 15--Go ahead. Try to make sense of the Phillies' play so far this season.
A team many thought would contend for a playoff spot has spent exactly zero days above .500. The offense has proved potent some days, anemic others. Consistency has been nonexistent.
Still, the Phillies have yet to reach the quarter pole of the season. To write their obituary now would be to risk ridicule later.
Instead, let's look for the next time to take the Phillies' temperature. Memorial Day seems like a reasonable moment for assessment.
