Polyscope Polymers, The Netherlands, has introduced a styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) for use in automotive and industrial applications. According to the company, the co-polymers offer an alternative to PA and ABS.
In recent tests for an automotive application, the SMA grade (brand name: Xiran) delivered a significant weight saving compared to glass reinforced PA as well as a considerable decrease in cycle-time.
According to Polyscope's Managing Director, Michael Charles Downs, SMA co-polymers are increasingly being selected by leading automobile manufacturers for interior components such as instrument panel retainers, air ducts and finishing trim. This choice is driven ...
