May 16--East Moriches residents yesterday approved the school district's proposed $22.5-million budget and voted to keep Westhampton Beach High School as an option for its students.
Mistrust from a previous budget crisis and the high cost of students attending neighboring Westhampton were the issues on the minds of voters.
"If you give up the Westhampton Beach option, you may save a couple hundred dollars in taxes a year, but it's going to cost you 10 percent of your property value," voter Herb Kramer, 65, said.
