DENVER _ Mark Reynolds woke up in Mobile, Ala., on Wednesday, and 14 hours later woke up the Arizona Diamondbacks' offense.

Reynolds, playing his first major league game, drove in the D-Backs' first two runs with a double in the fifth inning and added a rally-building single in the seventh.

His contributions, however, were not enough to push the D-Backs out of their offensive funk or to overcome Brad Hawpe's two home runs off Brandon Webb in a 5-3 loss to Colorado before 20,023 fans at Coors Field.

"Shoot, he was our MVP for the night," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said of Reynolds.
