Just ask business owners and managers, particularly small business owners and managers, what keeps them awake at night. One of the first things they'll mention, if not the first, is the rising cost of health-care benefits for their employees. And for good reason.
Employers are struggling under the weight of 10 percent annual increases in their share (75 percent, on average) of health care for employees. Monthly health-care premiums today cost nearly as much as monthly home mortgage payments 20 years ago. Unlike most monthly mortgage payments, though, health insurance premiums aren't locked in for 30 years. They keep increasing.
