The Angels and Dodgers will start a three-game interleague series Friday night at Angel Stadium. Just don't call it a rivalry.
Though the teams have played 56 times since interleague play began in 1997 and are one or two traffic jams away from each other, there's little if any bad blood between them.
The Dodgers do have some rivals. The Angels just don't happen to be one of them. The same goes for the Angels' feelings about the Dodgers.
"If you see the Oakland A's or Seattle or Texas, those are our rivals," Angels pitcher Francisco Rodriguez said. "We've got to compete for our division with those teams."
