Article: Nubian reflections. (Mosaic)

For almost 30 years Egyptian born Margo Veillon recorded, in sketches, paintings and photographs, her impressions of Nubia, an ancient land destined to sink beneath the water of Lake Nasser on completion of the High Aswan Dam project. A selection of this work and notes from diaries compiled over that period have recently appeared in publication.

Born in 1907 in the Abbasiyyah district of Cairo, Margo Veillon the only daughter of a Swiss businessman and his Austrian wife, had already decided to become a professional artist by the age of 17.
