Congress has started to put numbers on its plans for new corporate average fuel economy standards, and Detroit isn't happy to hear the news, unless automakers feared the numbers might be higher.
Gasoline is at more than $3 a gallon across the nation, without any spike in the price of crude oil. Consumers are well aware of how expensive gasoline has become and how much fuel it takes to run our cars and trucks. Few people are happy with their fuel economy. In the coming weeks and months, we'll see another drop in the popularity of SUVs and other light trucks; $3 gasoline does that.
