A contract has been signed by communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris/NYSE:ALU) and Brasil Telecom GlobeNet, a fibre-optic submarine cable system and subsidiary of Brasil Telecom (NYSE:BTM), to upgrade the 22,000km system connecting the US and Latin America.
