May 18--FOR WOUNDS RECEIVED in action on March, 3, 2002, Brett A. Morganti of Cumru Township received the Purple Heart.
For gallantry against enemy forces in Afghanistan in what was militarily dubbed Operation Enduring Freedom, Morganti, a member of the U.S. Navy SEAL special forces, earned the Silver Star.
In part, his military citation read:
"Petty Officer Morganti displayed extraordinary heroism, superb tactical performance and inspiring perseverance as a member of a six-man team that flew back into an enemy stronghold atop a 10,000-foot mountain in order to rescue a captured teammate.
