There were 639 fewer disciplinary actions taken against physicians last year, according to the Federation of State Medical Boards, but no one can really fully explain why-just like it's hard to explain why there were 344 more actions taken last year than in 2003.
The 2007 edition of the federation's Summary of Board Actions, its annual state-by-state compilation of statistics on disciplinary actions taken against physicians and other healthcare professionals in the previous year, was released last month.
