The Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) is developing a new rating system to measure the 'green' credentials of developments in the UAE in a bid to help the country improve its environmental record.
The voluntary system, due for release in the next few months, will be tailored to the local climate and culture and will set a range of benchmarks including the reduction of energy demand and water consumption, and satisfying sustainability criteria for the use of materials.
