May 20--HOLLEY -- A person may as well be speaking a foreign language when mentioning terms like "log dogs and "dead head floats" to today's generation.

But for Raymond Melvin, who grew up in a family involved in the turpentine industry, the words reference an important part of the area's history.

"My granddad, dad and great-granddad all worked at turpentine stills," said Melvin, who's a grandfather himself now.
