May 20--Robinson Cano became the illustration of the Yankees' woes this season in yesterday's 10-7 loss to the Mets at Shea Stadium.
Cano made three errors and dropped the ball on a would-be double play relay. The melancholy look on his face after his final two fielding mistakes was that of a lost boy all alone, perhaps about to cry.
Cano insisted he was nowhere near tears after the Yankees lost for the seventh time in nine games, but the image stuck.
"No, no, no, I wasn't going to cry," Cano said. "But it could have been a different game if I don't make those errors."
