Scholler's strategy of developing new markets in Eastern Europe, while at the same time introducing Oriental cuisine to a broad segment, has been cited as a good example of the way trends are shaping up as the German economy picks up steam.

There was no lack of VIPs or press coverage when the Nurnberg-based company's newest ice cream plant was dedicated at Namyslow, Poland, early this summer. Scholler's move was not made without preparation: for three years, there have been efforts to accustom Polish taste buds to German ice cream.
