Scholler's strategy of developing new markets in Eastern Europe, while at the same time introducing Oriental cuisine to a broad segment, has been cited as a good example of the way trends are shaping up as the German economy picks up steam.
There was no lack of VIPs or press coverage when the Nurnberg-based company's newest ice cream plant was dedicated at Namyslow, Poland, early this summer. Scholler's move was not made without preparation: for three years, there have been efforts to accustom Polish taste buds to German ice cream. The experience gained in distribution is now being combined with an appropriate production and product selection strategy.
