IT was a few years back that this magazine took something of a risk and ran a review of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy, an unabashed tale of revenge from the burgeoning South Korean director. At the time, theatrical releases for South Korean films were pitifully small and even tracking them down on DVD was no small feat. Fast-forward a few years and while there is no suggestion that Seoul is going to replace Hollywood anytime soon, South Korea has become the hot spot du jour for North American taste in foreign film.
