Born in Anglesey, Lewis Morris settled in Cardiganshire in 1742 and soon became involved in the disputes between the Crown and local landowners over mineral ownership, when he prepared a detailed report on the mines in the hill country to the east of Aberystwyth.
This volume publishes for the first time Lewis Morris's descriptions, with maps and plans in facsimile, including a fold-out 510 mm x 400 mm map of the Perveth district. The area in its day was the centre of a thriving lead-mining district, some of the ores being rich in silver.
