May 22--Join me for a few minutes at our Iowa-Nebraska fantasy track and field meet.
For the second year now, we've had some fun in comparing the all-class bests from the two high school state track meets, which now are held on the same weekend about 140 miles apart.
We speed ahead to the final event of the girls competition, the long jump, which is down to its final attempt. Iowa and Nebraska each have five event victories, so the winner here will give her state bragging rights for another year. Christina Airington of Davenport Central already has concluded her jumps with an Iowa-best leap of 18 feet, 41/4 inches. Natalie ...
