The 10th meeting of the Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council was held in Brisbane earlier this month, chaired by Brett Mason, Parliamentary Secretary to the Australian Government Minister for Health and Aging. The meeting considered a number of policy and food standards issues, several of which are still in train and will be reported on during the year.
Issues discussed included trans fatty acids in the New Zealand and Australian food supply. The Council considered a report on this prepared by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ; NIs passim).
