May 22--Q I'm wondering if you've heard any complaints about Verizon like ours, which has us steamed but feeling powerless.
The other day Verizon sent my 14-year-old a postcard saying that we needed to drop by a store by July 15 for a free software upgrade. Without it, the phone would no longer be able to text, send messages and such.
My wife dropped by a store in Pleasanton and was told it would take about an hour.
When she returned, the clerk told her he had bad news: The software had "fried" my daughter's cell phone, wiping out its phone list, photos, messages, ring tones, etc.
