May 22--The baby bald eagles weren't happy to be plucked from their nest.
The eagles, all claws and beaks, scratched and pecked the Colorado Division of Wildlife workers while their parents circled overhead.
But soon all was well again, as parents and children were reunited, and the only thing added to the family were four wildlife tags -- two for each of the baby eagles.
Division of Wildlife workers tagged two 40-day-old bald eagles Monday morning just outside of Platteville in a nest perched high in a tree. Workers used an Xcel Energy mechanical basket to get the eagles, which each weigh nearly 7.5 pounds.
