May 22--ALBUQUERQUE -- Rich Alday, the winningest head coach in the history of University of New Mexico baseball, announced his resignation on Monday.
Alday will leave at the end of the season.
"We had a great 18 years," Alday said. We had some outstanding athletes, including several allamerica performers who put up some impressive numbers. Working with the student athletes is what I will miss the most."
Alday is the seventh UNM head coach to resign, retire or be fired since new athletic director Paul Krebs joined the athletic program on June 1, 2006.
