Don't buy all new network gear just to upgrade to the upcoming Wi-Fi 802.11n version, says D-Link. The network gear maker will this fall offer an as-yet-unpriced D-Link Xtreme N Duo MediaBridge (DAP-1555), which allows users to add 5 GHz Draft 802.11n capabilities to an existing router.
The company says 802.11n operating at 5 GHz makes it possible to stream high-definition digital media content throughout the home, from PCs to home entertainment centers, with minimal interference and congestion from legacy (2.4 GHz) networks.
