A MAN has been arrested in connection with the baffling murder of a waiter on a Scottish island 13 years ago.
The 28-year-old, a serving soldier, was apprehended after police carried out a cold case review of the 1994 shooting of Shamsudden Mahmood in Orkney Mr Mahmood became the island's first murder victim in 25 years when the balaclava- clad killer walked into the restaurant where he worked and opened fire with a gun.
Last night a spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: 'A person has been apprehended on warrant in relation to the murder of Shamsudden Mahmood in Kirkwall in 1994.
