May 23--Schools all over the state will soon be using new basic skills assessments, under changes made by the Minnesota Department of Education.
The Minnesota Basic Skills Test will slowly be phased out of schools across the state over the next three years, and a new version of the test called Minnesota GRAD component of Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment-II will be phased in.
The tests require students to meet a certain level of proficiency in reading, writing and math before they can graduate from high school.
