May 24--Rhode Island's job growth this year is expected to be less than 1 percent, but the prediction for next year is nearly double that rate, according to a forecast to be released today by the New England Economic Partnership.

Payroll jobs next year are to rise by 8,300, or 1.7 percent, compared with a gain of 4,200, or 0.9 percent this year, according to the nonprofit forecast group NEEP. It said employment growth is expected to level off at just over 1 percent a year through 2011.

The forecasts for Massachusetts and other New England states are to be presented today at NEEP's spring conference in Boston.
