PLAYING PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL was a dream come true for former major leaguer Oscar Gamble. When he first made the big leagues in 1969 with the Chicago Cubs, Gamble had a hard time separating fantasy from reality. After all, he was just a star-struck rookie playing with and against his boyhood idols. Gamble admits he had to remind himself several times that he had a job to do.
