May 25--Wharton senior Wade Mathis will play at least two more high school games before beginning his college career at Lamar University. Mathis has been selected to play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association's Class 1A-3A All-Star Game scheduled for June 17 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Mathis was a four-year starter for the Tigers and was chosen as the Most Valuable Player in District 24-3A this season. Mathis hit .436 with eight home runs, seven doubles and one triple and had 40 RBIs. Mathis had an on-base average of .473, scored 33 ...
