May 25--NAVIGATING SALES NUMBERS
Different sources offer different sales numbers for portable navigation devices.
Canalys said shipments of portable navigation devices grew 269 percent last year in the United States, from 777,280 shipments
in 2005 to 2,867,820 shipped
last year.
Gartner analyst Thilo Koslowski forecast that U.S. sales of the devices will grow from 3.5 million or 3.6 million in 2006 to 7 million this year. Global sales will grow from 11 million to 19 million.
