May 25--AMMAN -- An increase in the average room rate from JD69 in 2005 to around JD92.5 in 2006 enabled the Jordan InterContinental Hotel to make up for lower income due to renovation.

Issam Salfiti, board chairman of Jordan Hotel and Tourism Company (JHTC) which owns the Jordan InterContinental Hotel, told shareholders in a foreword to the annual report that the 33.7 per cent rise in the room rate helped compensate the 34.5 per cent room shortfall from closing Building C which comprises 176 rooms.
