The economic repurcussions following the violent deaths of Burundi's last two Presidents are still being felt. But as Francois Misser reports, despite civil unrest, donors appear ready to back the country's reconstruction efforts.
Sporadic grenade attacks on the market of Bujumbura, in Burundi's capital, and continuing civil unrest led by urban guerillas on the towns outskirts, continue to plague the country.
This is despite the fact that, on 17 September, nine of the main political parties finally agreed upon a power-sharing formula and set out conditions for the election of a new President. Yet only in February, a similar agreement had hardly been reached ...
