Article: OHIO SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION, AMERICAN SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION MAKE PROPOSAL TO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) as well as the American Soybean Association (ASA) have voiced their opposition to the planting of soybeans and other oilseeds on base acreage taken out of production through the set-aside program. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is currently considering such a proposal.

In a letter to USDA, ASA President John McClendon urged the Department not to implement the proposed regulations to allow these plantings. OSA joined ASA in opposing this change to the current farm program.
