May 26--The heroin-cold medicine combination known as "cheese" has not yet traveled north from Dallas to Collin County, area narcotics investigators say. But that hasn't stopped suburban users from applying the catchy name to their heroin.
Collin County drug investigators, substance-abuse counselors and the medical examiner say the nickname heavily marketed by Dallas drug dealers is seeping into the local drug-speak.
In the 1990s, the mixture was chiva. Today, it's cheese.
