Flip flops. Scarves. Pantyhose, used for gun covers. Nasal spray. All such items found a place in the roughly 5,000 care packages sent to American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan by Berks County's Operation Enduring Freedom over five years.
And one recipient, while in the scorching deserts of Iraq, found some of his resolve in an otherwise ubiquitous item -- pretzels.
