Although the B-1B bomber has traditionally suffered from sub-par mission capable rates (MCR), the positive results from recent testing indicates the fleet could reach target percentages with minimal additional funding, the Air Force's bomber chief said yesterday.

Before the 28th bomber wing at Ellsworth AFB completed the congressionally-mandated Operational Readiness Assessment (ORA), MCRs for the 62 available B-1Bs stood at only 55 percent, far below the 75 percent standard set for "mature bombers," said Gen.
