WHEN TECHNOLOGY STOCKS were flying high in the late 90s, many of us enjoyed the ride but expected a tumble--though perhaps not as steep as most tech stocks flopped.
As the housing market sizzled throughout the country with historic low long-term interest rates and extremely low short-term rates for home equity loans, we had to expect the torrid pace couldn't last.
