PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharon Creech and David Diaz are the 1995 recipients of the John Newbery and Randolph Caldecott Medals, the most prestigious awards in children's literature. Winners of the annual awards were announced today (Monday, February 6), by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), at a news conference during the association's Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.
Creech, author of "Walk Two Moons," won the 1995 Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children published in 1994. The book is published by HarperCollins.
