May 29--The Cherokee Regional Library system kicked off its summer reading program Saturday with a presentation from a well-known storyteller and children's author and the message that "Reading takes you everywhere."
Children on Saturday listened to Cuban-born writer Carmen Agra Deedy, author of "The Library Dragon."
"She is probably the most important, well-known author we've booked to date," Darla Chambliss, children's specialist at the Chickamauga Public Library, said.
Library officials said children probably will be familiar with Mrs. Deedy's books.
