WINCHENDON - The nation's fallen heroes were remembered and their service celebrated yesterday at the Memorial Day service held at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. Beneath flags flying at half-staff, residents gathered to honor those who dedicated their lives to preserving America's freedom.
"Today we stand on sacred ground, ground that has been set aside for this nation," said the Rev. Jack Williams of the United Parish Church during the invocation. He then prayed a blessing for those who have served and those currently serving their country.
