Since at least Sept. 11, 2001, many have wondered what, exactly, Muslim-Americans believe. Are they put-upon peace lovers or sneaky supporters of jihad? In the absence of any comprehensive, independent research, it was difficult to know for sure.
Until now. The nonpartisan Pew Research Center has the results of the first-ever national survey of Muslim-Americans. The results are generally encouraging.
The survey found that most U.S. Muslims _ numbering an estimated 2.4 million _ are content middle-class folks who have assimilated rapidly.
