National Breastfeeding Awareness Week (13 - 19 May) this year will be the biggest ever, with country-wide TV and radio advertising supporting the initiative for the first time.
The week aims to focus on the efforts of health visitors, midwives and breastfeeding counsellors to promote breastfeeding as the best option for feeding babies. Advertisements with the slogan, 'Breastfeeding--what could be more natural?' will be aimed at young women from lower socio-economic groups, who are the least likely in the United Kingdom to breastfeed.
In addition, the NHS breastfeeding website at www.breastfeeding.nhs.uk has been re-launched as a support tool. The user-friendly site ...
